Maternal health outcomes have continued to decline in Alabama. Since 2023, at least four hospital labor and delivery units across Alabama have closed in less than a year, creating more gaps in care options, especially for our rural communities.
We also know that mothers and families want to be equipped to make high-quality, informed birth decisions and that doulas want to see their clients’ decisions respected and supported.
Changes are needed to improve the outcomes for mothers and babies in Alabama, and we know families and doulas working together are part of the solution. Here’s what we hope to advance across Alabama 👇
Doulas recognize YOU as the center of your birth story.
Doulas across Alabama are committed to seeing you become empowered with the support, information, and confidence you need to make the best choices for your family during pregnancy and beyond. New to doulas? Learn about doula support here.
Ready to find a doula in your area?
As fellow doulas, we believe that when doulas are empowered, families have more options to thrive.
We want to uplift and support Alabama doulas across the state, providing opportunities for resource sharing, community, and advocacy support needed to make a lasting impact. We hope to build a more connected doula network that will continue to positively shift Alabama birth experiences.
