Alabama Birth Stories Are Changing — But Many Maternal And Infant Health Outcomes Have Not
Since 2023, at least four hospital labor and delivery units across Alabama have closed in less than a year, creating more gaps in care options, especially for our rural communities.
We also know that mamas want to be equipped to make high-quality, informed birth decisions and that doulas want to see their clients’ decisions respected and supported.

This effort is growing from the passion of Alabama doulas for doulas and the families we serve.
The vision for the Alabama Doula Alliance (ALDA) is still in its early stages! Our current ALDA Support Team looks forward to seeing this vision grow and for Alabama doulas to work together to address key doula-and-family related issues locally and across the state.
